I have gotten from a soon to be family member that I was spoiled for having even one of my dolls and that having as many I do is kinda horrible. He didn't mean to be cruel he just grew up without a real family and money that could be spent like that. Now at first I took office but then I rememberd it was just how he was raised.

I don't really feel spoiled. It my choice to work for these dolls and earn them. That's what summer jobs are for. lol

It's the same as saving up for anything else, in my opinion.

I don't particularly think of myself as spoiled - granted, a few of my dolls have been bought as presents from a friend, but I worked hard for the money to buy my babies. Maybe it's more like lucky, not spoiled. I am lucky enough to have had money enough to spend on dolls. There's a difference between spoiled - where everything is handed to you without having to make the effort for it - and lucky - where the effort you've put in succeeds in enough excess to allow for fun spending.

True, I love they way you put that actually. Although most of mine were gifts I did add some to it and what not and went without other things for them.

I think there's also gift - such as b-day, christmas, graduation - that is not considered spoiling, epecially if it was a very special event, a special doll and there's a kind of unexpected surprise about it, and then there's constantly being showered with expensive presents. I think few people who have been gifted a doll are particularly spoiled. It's when it goes to excess that it can be considered spoiling.

And spoiling is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as the person being spoiled knows that it is because someone loves them and not because their love is being bought.

Haha, naw. I don't consider myself spoiled and I got a doll head for Christmas a few years ago, a doll for a combined Christmas/Birthday a year ago, and then another doll head this past year that was technically supposed to be a Christmas present, but I got it early because my friend felt that we'd both been having a bad few weeks and she wanted to put a bit of happy into our lives.

Aw that is sweet. I think somewhere along the line most of us arent spoiled, we have different reasons for deserving a doll at one point or another!

Geez, I'm sorry someone said that to you especially when they dont know or understand how we have to sometimes acquire these dolls.

Because of my GL lifestyle (sorta..) I'll play advocate lol. Say some of us really are spoiled for being able to own BJDs and parade them around with better clothing then we dress ourselves. I say...What's the big deal?

Yeah, we could be using that money for charity or the less fortunate, but how is being able to afford 200+ dollar dolls really that much different then any other collection hobby? Some of us collect shoes while others collect dolls- its a hobby for many reasons.

As a child of two business degree parents I can tell you that owning a BDJ is one of the best investments anyone can put money to. I have yet to see anyone sell a BDJ for less then 100$ resell.(unless that person is reeeeally desperate to have the doll off their hands) even damaged and stained BJDs can still bring in profit to the owner because they are in such a high demand unlike some items like baseball cards and even heirloom jewelry; when those get damaged, you can kiss your profit goodbye.

Being considered spoiled has such a bad rap since it is matched with poor character qualities such as being shallow and ignorant which is not really true. I have met people with low income have equally bad character that you would think they were rich snobs @.@

I guess to make this short I'll conclude this: Being able to afford certain things in life which others can't will always make other people assume we are spoiled because we can somehow own pricey items and they cannot. This is not a bad issue reflecting individual people personally, being called spoiled is just one of those things we kinda have to shrug at because no matter how much to show people how hard we work or save to get these dolls..they are still going to call us spoiled.
